The Pensacola Pop Expo was so much more amazing than I could have hoped for!
First, let me just say that the coordinators that will be working Pensacon also worked Pensacola Pop Expo (at least the vendor coordinators,) and they did a stellar job making sure that everything ran smooth. They kept in constant contact with everyone; they came by the various booths several times over the course of the five hours checking on everyone.
The turnout was great! So many people showed up, and the number of people who decided to dress up surprised me considering the event took place in the middle of the street! The costumes were fantastic, people were in a chipper mood, and the weather stayed perfect the entire day!
A lot of people came by to say hello, I sold several copies of NANO Archive 01, and even members of the Santa Rosa School board and the Pensacola News Journal took an interest in my book! I even made the Sunday morning paper (will be posting a picture below!)
I can’t begin to express how touched I was by all the support. From seeing my friends, to all the people that just stopped by to tell me how excited they were and to wish me well, I felt like I was on cloud nine!
I’d like to post special thank-yous to Jonathan Pace, Mia Ingram-Pace, Mitchell Brent, and Kristi Massey. Jonathan and Mia stayed with me from early in the morning all the way through the event’s end helping me out TREMENDOUSLY in more ways than I can count. I daresay I wouldn’t have been able to do this event without their help, and Mitch and Kristi stopped by in the middle of the day to help man the booth and figure out some tech-problems we were having! I’m very grateful to the four of you, so thank you so much!
I received quite a few sign-ups for the mailing list that I’m sure I’ve mentioned! (If you haven’t signed up for it, there’s an icon on the left of the page for you to do so!) The Newsletter will launch in January 2015, and it will be a monthly newsletter as opposed to a weekly or biweekly. It’ll have things you won’t find on my FB page or even my blog; in particular, you’ll find fun extra snippits about characters, a way to get fun little answers about them (Such as: what was Ihlia’s favorite food before the Titan Crisis?) maybe a short story or two set from the POV of different characters, and general updates on my progress in the NANO series and (eventually) The Dawn Maiden series. So be sure to sign up if any of that sounds interesting to you!
Thanks again to everyone who helped make my first event as a published author one that I’ll never forget! I’m posting a few pictures to commemorate; I suppose I should mention that apparently the Empire took some issue with my booth! I think they sent over their favorite Sith to check things out. I avoided a Force Choke, thankfully. The Stormtrooper fired at me a couple times… but we all know they can’t hit the broad side of an AT-AT, so no worries there!
On that note, I can’t wait to see all of you (and more of you!) at Pensacon in February. Archive 02 will be on sale then, and if all goes well, you’ll see some cosplays of characters from my books, too!
Thanks again for all your continued support,
Jason
