November Cover Contest (And my Paperback Releases!)

Hello, everyone!

Though it’s been about a month since my last posts regarding my releases, I’ve been hard at work getting the files ready for the paperback releases! They’ve finally all been approved! If you prefer paperbacks to ebooks, you can either navigate to the appropriate links on my website, visit my Facebook author page here, or visit!

But the main reason I’m posting today is to both congratulate my cover artist, Taylor Leiby, and ask for your help! You see, Taylor designed the covers for my recent urban fantasy series launch, Cloud IX. The cover for the series’ first book, Welcome to Cloud IX, was chosen for the November cover-of-the-month contest!

I would really appreciate votes for the cover! Please click here and find the Cloud IX Volume I cover, then simply click “vote,” and you’re done! It would mean worlds to me! Thank you so much in advance!

Now that my paperbacks have all been approved and launched, I’ve been spending my time working out a good marketing strategy for my releases while I rewrite NANO Archive 01: The City of Fire. I’m very excited to bring the first book I ever wrote up to par with my current writing skills, and I’m plucking along at it (slowly but surely!) I should have it ready to relaunch within the next couple of months!

Thank you all so much for supporting me when and how you can. You may never understand quite how much it means to me.

Tomorrow is the day!

Hello, everyone!

I’ve been working hard this month to tie up all the loose ends before my big launch tomorrow! I am so happy to say that I’m ready! (or at least as ready as I’m going to be!) The deck has been stacked; all the cards are falling into place! My covers are done, my blurbs are written, and my files are formatted and ready to go!

As you know, NANO Archive 03: The Fate of Bliss (Part I) is already available for purchase as an ebook! The paperback version will be releasing soon; I’m due to receive my proof copy from Createspace any day, now. Usually, I use the digital proofer, but I’ve changed a few of my formatting techniques to better reflect trade standards, so I’d like to make sure they all translated to a physical copy before I make it available for market!

The rest of my ebooks are set to release tomorrow, and once they release, I’ll be uploading the paperback versions shortly after!

On my website, you will see updates for the Miss Fortune, Cloud IX, and NANO pages; hopefully they’re even easier to navigate now! For Miss Fortune, be sure to check out the book trailer created for me by S.E. Smith’s AMAZING team!

Cloud IX will show the front covers, and you’ll now be able to find both a plot description and excerpt for each of them!

Tomorrow, the hammer drops and Cloud IX I and II, NANO’s final book, and Miss Fortune will all release!

Thank you all so much for your continued support! I hope you all enjoy these stories, and please spread the word to anyone you think may like them!

NANO Archive 03 (Part I) is available!

As of today, the e-book version of NANO Archive 03: The Fate of Bliss (Part I) is available for purchase from amazon! You can purchase your copy here!

If you’re itching for the paperback version, fear not! The files are currently being reviewed by the Createspace team; after that, I will have them send me a prototype copy to make sure everything is in order. It won’t be long after that before the paperback is available for purchase!

In addition to Archive 03 (Part I), I’m putting the final touches on Archive 03 (Part II). It, along with my other three titles, will be available to purchase on September 19th!

Slowly, as I get more of my works ready for the big September 19th release, I’m changing and adding things to the web site in order to better reflect what will be soon be available!

If you navigate through the tabs at the top of the site, you will find entries for Cloud IX, Miss Fortune, and NANO Archive 03 parts I and II.

The tab for NANO Archive 03: The Fate of Bliss (Part I) now contains a link to purchase the e-book and one for the paperback will be added when it becomes available! In addition, you can find some basic information about Cloud IX and Miss Fortune! As I draw closer to the September 19th release, I will be adding descriptions and excerpts of each of these works! Be sure to keep an eye out for updates!

September is here! It’s time!

I know it’s been another several months since I last posted an update, but as always, I have been anything but idle! First, you’ll notice I’ve done a complete overhaul on my website (Exhibit A)! I hope you find it easier to navigate than before and more pleasing to the eye.

But there’s more to this month than that! This month, the month of September, will be a huge month of publishing for me! I will be releasing FIVE new books this month!

This month, I’ll be releasing the LAST two installments of NANO, the FIRST two installments of Cloud IX, and a very special book born of a very special project from a fellow author (S.E. Smith): Miss Fortune.

I’m very excited to bring everyone updates as the month continues. The first thing slated for release will be NANO Archive 03: The Fate of Bliss (Part I)! I’ll be releasing it within the next week or two, and I’ll be giving an official date soon! Be sure to keep up with my Website, Twitter, and Facebook page for more details as I have them!

The other four projects will all be released around the same time (if not on the same date!) As of now, that date is September 19th! Be sure to check back regularly for more updates! I know, I know —

“But Jason, it’s usually several months between posts for you! Why should we check back regularly?!”

It’s different this month! This month, all my projects have come to a head! This month, I’ll be posting relatively frequently with details concerning the launches! In short, I have something to yell about this month!

To give each of the projects their due, I’ll be posting over the next several days to showcase each individual work and to give you updates on my larger plan once these projects are all released!

In the meantime, be sure to check out my pages for NANO, Cloud IX, and Miss Fortune in order to get a better idea of the stories I’ll be releasing!

Thank you all so much for your continued support! I am so grateful for all the help I’ve received both from the community and fellow authors! I couldn’t be happier to be releasing these products to you this month!

An apology, an explanation, and an update…

To those that follow this website, it has been another entire year since I last posted anything on this website. In a way, I feel as though I owe an apology to those who use blogs and websites as their main means of staying updated with an author. To those who look to the site for updates, I apologize.

I haven’t been utilizing the blog aspect of my web site since I first set it up alongside the release of NANO Archive 01: The City of Fire. Occasionally I posted something for a while, but eventually the time between posts grew longer until it was nearly a year in between posts!

First, I would like to assure you that neither the web site nor my endeavors in writing have been abandoned or anything. In fact, the primary reason for an absence in these posts is because I am usually working rigorously on my projects. Not to say I don’t have time, because that’s bullocks… it’s more a sense of absent-mindedness. When I work, I get absorbed into it, and when I’m not working, I’m either spending time with the people close to me so they don’t think I’ve abandoned them (which they most assuredly otherwise would because I may very well be a mad man consumed by his passion) or … thinking about working. So I put off posting things. “I’ll do it next week when I actually have some progress to report,” I say to myself every time.

You see where this has gotten me.

However! I do have plans to utilize my website as a more active blog in the future. I’d like to wait until I finish fully publishing the NANO series. When I do that, I’m going to be taking a little time to explore marketing both locally and online. That’ll include things like joint blog tours and other things. Depending on popular intrigue, I may also do something with my blog such as an indie author book review or something. The point is, I paid my subscription for this site again this year ‘cuz I plan to use it. Just… working everything out.

On that note, actually! The “update” part of my title! NANO Archive 03: The Fate of Bliss (Part I) is ready to publish. It’s been ready for nearly a year now, but I’ve waited to publish it until I finished up Part II. I did this so I could release the books close to the same time. Since it’s a part I and II, I didn’t want to release part I then leave my readers hanging for almost a year while I went through the whole process with part II. As it stands, part II is now formatted, preliminary edits are done, and it’s out on beta read!

What does this mean? Well, in a few weeks when the beta read comes back and I assess comments and questions, I will enter the main and final editing phases. This should last a few weeks to a month depending on the extent of changes based on the beta read… or the number of times I accidentally used “effect” when I meant “affect” (my editor hates that one.) While the last of the editing and tidying up is going on, I will publish Archive 03: Part I. This will give my readers a few weeks to chow down on part I, and hopefully by the time the majority of readers start finishing part I, part II will be ready for release! That’s my plan, anyway!

In addition to NANO, you may be surprised to see a link to a story called Cloud IX here pretty soon! Book 1 is finished and awaiting editing, and book 2 is nearly completed. Once I finish the editing and beta reading for the two Cloud IX books, I will be releasing both of them at the same time. My current price plan for this series (given that they will be novellas/short novels compared to the lengthier NANO) is to release the first book free and the subsequent books for $0.99. Keep an eye out for those, as well!

Once the tab to the left has a “Plot Description” and “Excerpt” link for all 4 of my books along with links to books 1 and 2 of Cloud IX, I will be using this website a lot more frequently as a blog while I explore marketing options. Until then, I am just intensely focused upon reaching this milestone — my full, 4-book science fiction series published, and the start of my next series published. I’ll be able to start gauging interest in my work then; that way I can find out what’s working, what’s not, and adjust my grasp of the craft accordingly.

I have plans for about 10 light novels/novellas for the Cloud IX series, and I have plans for The Dawn Maiden (the sequel series to NANO). Then again, I have ideas for things completely unrelated, too. What I work on will largely depend on how my work is being received! Keep your eyes peeled for updates as I figure out the road I need to walk!

Thank you all so much for everything you’ve done. I wouldn’t be here on the brink of this personal achievement if not for all the support I’ve received over the years. I love being able to share my stories with everyone, and I hope you always enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

– Jason

(P.S. – The cover for NANO Archive 03: The Fate of Bliss (Part II) is done! Matt Burton once more did a stunning job! Here’s a look!)

NANO Archive 03: The Fate of Bliss (Part I)

Hello everyone! It’s been close to a year since my last blog post. Things hit a lull period for a while in which most of what I was doing was waiting. Well, I believe the waiting is finally over!

As of today, NANO Archive 03: The Fate of Bliss (Part I) has officially gone into editing! The editing process varies (depending largely on two factors: how free my editor is during the next month or two and how much I royally botched all the wonderful English lessons I took in high school and college. Teehee.)

Looking over my website, I realize that I never posted anything regarding Pensacon 2016. Let me go ahead and take a moment to do a little blip about it…

Just as with Pensacon 2015, I brought a healthy number of my books. Unlike Pensacon 2015, I brought a healthy number of both Archive 01 AND Archive 02. With the help of my good friend Rinaldo Slaughter (yes, that is really his name,) full support from my fellow authors in booths next to mine, a caring staff, and the wonderful con-goers that I’m coming to love more and more every year, I managed to sell out ALL copies of both Archive 01 and Archive 02! I can’t thank you all enough for your support, and I truly hope anyone who picks up my novels thoroughly enjoys them!

Now, on to more current matters. NANO Archive 03 (the final installment of my NANO series) is broken into a part I and part II. Part I will be available as soon as editing is finished and I move into the publishing phase. I’m projecting that it’ll be ready to publish probably around July or August, but there really is no telling how long the editing phase will take. So I’ll be sure to keep you posted as I draw closer to a release date.

If you follow my Facebook page, you know that I’m also working on a few other projects. Many of these projects have been put on the back-burner (not to be confused with abandoned,) and I’m adding one more to the list. I’m going to attempt to create a television show pilot script based off NANO’s plot. Right now, Amazon is working to step into the ring with Hulu and Netflix, and they’ve put out an open submission policy for scripts. I’m not going to get my hopes up, but it would be very nice to see my work translated into a visual medium. Television narrative is at an all-time peak right now (at least in my opinion) so if all goes well you might see the airing pilot for a television show called NANO sometime in the near future!

Finally, I’d like to take a moment to show you all something I’ve been hiding for a bit. I kept it under wraps since I was unsure how long it would take for Archive 03 to go into editing, but now that it’s officially IN editing, I can go ahead and show you all… the cover art for NANO Archive 03: The Fate of Bliss!

Another beautiful cover by my artist Matthew Burton.

I hope this update has been helpful to those of you that pop in to check my blog every once in a while. With things rolling forward, I plan to make a lot more posts here than I have been recently. So be sure to stop back by every few weeks to see what all may have changed!

As always, thank you all for your continued support!

NANO Archive 02 Ebook is Live!

As of August 1st, 2015, NANO Archive 02: The War for Uriel has gone live on Amazon in its Ebook format! You can check it out here:

NANO Archive 02: The War for Uriel

Though it’s been in editing for almost six months, I believe the extra time spent making corrections both grammatically and structurally was well worth it.

Currently, I plan to wait roughly three weeks (around the time I release my next Newsletter) before I begin the beta reading phase for Archive 03 Part I. This will give my audience plenty of time to read through NANO Archive 02 and, if they wish, talk to me about joining the ranks of my beta readers!

I’ll be posting a little more about that when the time comes (probably around the end of the month) with details on what you can expect as a beta reader and why you might want to become a beta reader. So be sure to keep a watchful eye on my facebook page, this website, or your email if you’re signed up for the mailing list!

If you want a quick snip of what you might find in NANO Archive 02, then be sure to check out the tab on the left side (which you can access through the little button at the top of the page that looks like a square with lines through it.) Or you can just click here.

I hope you all enjoy NANO Archive 02 even MORE than you enjoyed Archive 01!

Thank you so much for your continued support!

The Official Release of NANO Archive 02: The War for Uriel!

It’s been a long time coming. I’ve waylaid you with excuses; I’ve bombarded you with reassurances. Well, today, I can face you head on and say with pride: NANO Archive 02: The War for Uriel is officially releasing! The official release date for the ebook version of NANO Archive 02 will be August 1st, 2015. All the files are up on Amazon, and all the files have been properly reviewed.

To celebrate the launch of Archive 02, I will be having a special sale five days leading up to Archive 02’s release! Amazon gives me exactly five free-book-promotion days a term, so I will be using those days to make the ebook version of NANO Archive 01: The City of Fire free! If you never got a chance to read Archive 01, or even if you just know someone who hasn’t, be sure to check out the sale starting July 28th! Spread the word, share with your friends, shout it from the mountain tops!… Or just post it on your social media. That works too.

In addition to the free-days of Archive 01, you can preorder a copy of Archive 02 at Amazon! I’ll attach a link below!

NANO Archive 02: The War for Uriel Preorder!

Shortly following Archive 02’s ebook release, the paperback version of the novel will go live on createspace and amazon. if you’re the type that just has to have that physical, beautiful, dead tree sitting in your hands… just be patient a couple of days after August 1st!

For those of you that actually navigate around on my site and check things out, I’ll also be updating the NANO Archive 02 page on my sidebar over there with an excerpt from the book and a direct link to the page once it goes live!

Releasing Archive 01 was huge for me. All my life (Read: since around middle school) I’ve wanted to be a writer. When I finally sat down, wrote, and finished the NANO series, it was a huge milestone for me. It wasn’t the kind of milestone that represented an achievement unlocked, nor was it the kind of milestone that lifted some invisible burden off my shoulders. It wasn’t the kind of thing where I sat back and said “I did it…” at least not for more than a few days.

No, releasing Archive 01 was all about the first step down a path, not reaching the end of one. I want to be a writer; it’s what I want to do with my life. It’s the path I want to keep walking forever. Archive 01 was the first steps down that path. With Archive 02, that feeling has completely set in.

It represents the realization that finishing NANO wasn’t the end; it was only the beginning.

Thank you so much for your continued support, and please continue to support me as I take one step at a time down this lifelong path.

A Long Overdue Progress Report

It’s been a long time (again) since I’ve posted on my blog. To those of you who follow it regularly and have been thinking “Where in the world is this guy?” The past couple of months, I apologize. Between my day job and the various projects on my plate, I’ve been completely swamped with work from all angles. Thankfully, half the work I’m doing (anything related to writing) is refreshing and far more like play than work for me. I really feel that I was born to do this!

Ahem, that being said, I do have some updates for everyone!

NANO Archive 02: The War for Uriel is complete in every way…save one. Amazon has some rather strict formatting requirements, and the guy that usually does these formatting tasks for me (and does an excellent job) is indisposed! As such, he’s sent me all his templates and notes, but the actual formatting for Archive 02 is up to me this time! I’m not sure how long it’s going to take me, though given how driven I am to complete it, I doubt it’ll take me more than a week or two. The moment it’s done, I intend to announce a release date and have Amazon set to release the book on that date! So keep your ears to the ground… eyes to the screen? Er… hm.

One of the most exciting things on my plate right now aside from continuing to get my NANO series ready for publication would definitely be the Cloud IX Project. It started as a possible submission for Oni Press, but after a bit of reading, I decided I simply didn’t agree with a few of their submission policies. Thus, I’ve decided to handle Cloud IX myself. As of now, I intend to make it a free-to-read web comic with two donation pages. One donation page will be to donate to organizations that help with the issues you will read about in Cloud IX; the other will be to help feed us poor starving artist types. I plan to make it abundantly clear that I would rather people donate to the organizations first, then if they have any more money they can spare, to help those of us that produce Cloud IX to keep the lights on and food in our belies, etc. My hope with Cloud IX is to raise awareness about powerful social issues, disabilities, and to address the fact that minorities, people with disabilities, and people with extenuating circumstances… aren’t often featured in literature or our current Hollywood culture. I’m hoping Cloud IX will remedy that and bring some fresh perspective to anyone that happens to read it.

I have one more major project to report on: The Aetherians. I started The Aetherians as a collaborative novella with a good friend of mine. I work on it when I’ve hit a dead end with my other projects, and I can honestly say that it’s nearing the halfway point of completion! I’m not sure if I should be happy that another project is inching closer to being finished, or if I should be sad since that means I’m often hitting dead ends on my other projects, haha!

In all seriousness, though, once I finish The Aetherians first draft and give it a good edit, I intend to ship it off to Tor. This will be the first time I attempt traditional publication, so I’m both excited and nervous by the prospect!

Well, that’s about all I have for everyone! Be sure to subscribe to my mailing list. If you haven’t, you’re definitely missing out on some fun things (like interviews with Doctor Oswald.) Don’t hesitate to email me at with any questions, and be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter! As always, thank you all for your continued support!

As I Approach the Midyear

It’s been quite a while since I posted anything on my blog. Actually, the last post I made was before Pensacon. Things have really revved up for me in the busy-ness department since then, so I have a lot to cover and not a lot of… Oh, by the stars we still see, I have all the time in the world!

I’ll go ahead and start with Pensacon. It’s a little on the late side, but Pensacon was a huge success for me. If you’ve been following my Author Page or reading my newsletter, you know that I actually completely sold out of stock at Pensacon by the final day! That was over 70 books in just three short days! For me, it was an amazing experience that nearly brought me to tears! I have to send out a huge thank you to my good friend Nicholas Sincere for helping me man the booth and talking to people about the NANO storyline! In addition to selling out of merchandise, I added more than 90 new people to the Dusks and Dawns Mailing list! If you haven’t checked out the mailing list, be sure to do so on my Facebook Author Page or on this website!

With Pensacon’s success, I’ll be looking into other local or nearby conventions at which to make appearances. In the meantime, let’s talk about NANO Archive 02: The War for Uriel, namely the fact that it’s way behind schedule for release. I had originally intended to have it debut at the end of February when I went to Pensacon. I wanted to tie its release in with my appearance there; here it is the end of April, and I’m still several weeks (minimum) from announcing a release date. I want to assure all of you that the book will be releasing soon; the reason its behind schedule is because I am combing through it with a very, very, very fine-brush comb, in a manner of speaking. Don’t worry, it will release soon, and when it does it will be an excellent indicator of where my skills as a writer currently stand (Don’t worry, I’ll keep getting better!)

That brings me to three things which are currently on my plate. These three things all have me extremely excited as a writer, and while I’m waiting on the final edits to trickle in from my editor, I’m having a difficult time deciding which of these projects receives more of my time and attention!

1) The sequel series to NANO set in the Dusks and Dawns universe – If you’ve been following me, you know that the entire NANO series is already written. The only things standing in the way of its publication are beta reads, rewrites, and edits. I’m trying to stagger the releases a little bit, but the staggering process is taking longer than I thought so I’ll likely let less time pass before working on Archive 03 than I did between Archives 01 and 02. That means that (hopefully) Archives 03 part I and 03 part II will be releasing relatively close to Archive 02. That, in turn, means I’m spending a large bulk of my writing time mapping things out for The Dawn Maiden. It’s all still in its skeletal stages right now, but you should look forward to more An Era of Dusks and Dawns series releasing within the next few years.

2) A novella collaboration project – A friend of mine approached me not long ago with an interest in working with me to create a story. After talking things out with said friend, we ultimately decided the project would be a novella (for those that aren’t aware, a novella is a book structured like a novel, but it contains less than 40,000 words. Anything over 40,000 words is considered a novel.)  The most intriguing (to me) part of this process is that I, normally a strong self-publishing advocate, have been swayed to submit our novella to Tor upon completion. This will be my first time giving the traditional publishing avenue a chance, so I’m both excited and terrified at what it might bring!

3) Oni Press open submissions – Oni Press is a comic book publishing house that publishes some very interesting comics. In particular, they like to take a look at underrepresented characters and situations and put them in the spot light. They’re beginning open submissions starting in May. As a writer, I’ve always been interested in the ideas of visual art (comics) and animation, but I’m awful at drawing. If Oni Press likes my idea (a project I’m currently calling Cloud IX) they’ll pair me up with an illustrator and I’ll be able to see some of my work come to life visually! The possibilities for this are exciting, but even if Oni Press decides they don’t like my idea (which I have fallen in love with,) I plan to make a folder for it on my computer and continue it either as my own crack at comics or as a novel/series.

That’s about all I have to report here! If you receive the Dusks and Dawns Newsletter, you’ll likely be getting an issue within the next day or so. Maybe even today, if I can break away from some of my other work. There will be more details about my two side projects and the NANO series! So if you haven’t subscribed to the newsletter, be sure to do so!

As always, thank you all for your continued support!
