It’s been a long time (again) since I’ve posted on my blog. To those of you who follow it regularly and have been thinking “Where in the world is this guy?” The past couple of months, I apologize. Between my day job and the various projects on my plate, I’ve been completely swamped with work from all angles. Thankfully, half the work I’m doing (anything related to writing) is refreshing and far more like play than work for me. I really feel that I was born to do this!
Ahem, that being said, I do have some updates for everyone!
NANO Archive 02: The War for Uriel is complete in every way…save one. Amazon has some rather strict formatting requirements, and the guy that usually does these formatting tasks for me (and does an excellent job) is indisposed! As such, he’s sent me all his templates and notes, but the actual formatting for Archive 02 is up to me this time! I’m not sure how long it’s going to take me, though given how driven I am to complete it, I doubt it’ll take me more than a week or two. The moment it’s done, I intend to announce a release date and have Amazon set to release the book on that date! So keep your ears to the ground… eyes to the screen? Er… hm.
One of the most exciting things on my plate right now aside from continuing to get my NANO series ready for publication would definitely be the Cloud IX Project. It started as a possible submission for Oni Press, but after a bit of reading, I decided I simply didn’t agree with a few of their submission policies. Thus, I’ve decided to handle Cloud IX myself. As of now, I intend to make it a free-to-read web comic with two donation pages. One donation page will be to donate to organizations that help with the issues you will read about in Cloud IX; the other will be to help feed us poor starving artist types. I plan to make it abundantly clear that I would rather people donate to the organizations first, then if they have any more money they can spare, to help those of us that produce Cloud IX to keep the lights on and food in our belies, etc. My hope with Cloud IX is to raise awareness about powerful social issues, disabilities, and to address the fact that minorities, people with disabilities, and people with extenuating circumstances… aren’t often featured in literature or our current Hollywood culture. I’m hoping Cloud IX will remedy that and bring some fresh perspective to anyone that happens to read it.
I have one more major project to report on: The Aetherians. I started The Aetherians as a collaborative novella with a good friend of mine. I work on it when I’ve hit a dead end with my other projects, and I can honestly say that it’s nearing the halfway point of completion! I’m not sure if I should be happy that another project is inching closer to being finished, or if I should be sad since that means I’m often hitting dead ends on my other projects, haha!
In all seriousness, though, once I finish The Aetherians first draft and give it a good edit, I intend to ship it off to Tor. This will be the first time I attempt traditional publication, so I’m both excited and nervous by the prospect!
